Pierpaolo Piccioli Stuns For Valentino In A Pink And Black Color Palette Theme In Paris For The AW22 Women’s Season

Zendaya, Lewis Hamilton, and Maluma are some of the celebrities in a packed house of pink

Pink, or more like a shade fuchsia and black. This was the color palette of Valentino’s AW22 collection unveiled today at Le Carreau du Temple in Paris. To get the deep pink color, the house collaborated with Pantone Color Institute to create the custom individual pink shade. A radical gesture, an experiment to stick to two hues of color, Pierpaolo Piccioli, creative director for the house found he could do more with less.

Amongst the celebrities attending the show were Zendaya, who caused the crowd outside the show to erupt in cheering as she arrived in a Valentino pink pantsuit. The actress is the face of Valentino’s Rendez Vous campaign. And Latin sensation Maluma who sat front row. The whole space was covered in hot pink, the floors, seats, and all. The reason for pink everywhere, according to the house: “pink is rampant everywhere, in a total estrangement that includes the set and that is reiterated by the occasional total black and total white intermissions. Pink as a manifestation of the unconscious and a liberation from the need for realism.”

Another reason behind the pink is that it eliminates the shock of the color, allowing the personality of the person to burst forth, along with their features- “the signs that shape them into a silhouette, the textures that give them consistency, the decorations that are part of the construction.”

PARIS, FRANCE- Everything is pink or black in the Valentino AW22 women's and men's ready-to-wear collection, and experiment for creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli. Tailored coats, to voluminous dresses and gowns make up the collection.

Looks from the collection include volume, the gesture of tightening, sensual s-shaped lines, clenched waists of coats, tailored paints, double-breasted suits, sparkle, and feathers- even the shoes are pink too. There were also men’s looks in the collection in both pink and black as well. And the handbags are also very pink too, closed by a giant stud.

Backstage after the show, Piccioli in his known humility greeted guests and celebrities taking time to say hello to each one. The invitations for the show accompanied a literature booklet of forty works by Douglas Coupland. The house is calling it a collectors item and it includes 10 exclusive works for Valentino by the Coupland. Since 1991 the writer has authored 13 books, and performed for England’s Royal Shakespeare Company.
